Time for New Year Resolutions
It’s that time of year again. This year has flown by, but honestly it feels like each year is getting shorter and shorter. Anticipated timelines to achieve goals seem unrealistic, but the offset is we don’t have time to waste. Time is the most treasured asset, so what are you doing to maximize your time as you plan for upcoming year?
December marks my favorite time of the year, not just because of the holidays, but because you do have a new year approaching and that is always an opportunity to set new goals, prepare and plan. Preparation is key, the old saying “fail to plan, plan to fail” comes to mind and the importance of readying yourself becomes priority one. This mindset should also come into play when readying your business for 2020.
Setting goals, preparing and planning to achieve those goals isn’t just about your company budget, which is so important since it serves as your rule book for the upcoming year. It is also about assessing business resources and tools to accomplish all. A few things come to mind:
Software and Applications: Time to kick the tires and make sure your business software and applications are providing you solutions that are truly time resources. With the ongoing introduction of new software and applications for business it is easy to get lost in what is needed to run a business effectively. Review these tools and make sure you don’t have those that may provide duplicate solutions. Also, make sure you aren’t paying for services you no longer use. Even $1 spent on something not needed is wasteful.
Social Media Channels: Review all social media platforms to make sure there are not necessary changes in important details, or that you need a refresh. It is important that all Social Media Channels support your business brand and are cohesive, keeping in mind each unique audience. You may want to consider adding some new content, photos, etc. Today the Social Media Channel component of your brand is everything.
Team: Your business will achieve greater success if you have the right “people on the bus”. You need mentors, coaches, experts, team members, that support you and your business goals. These individuals should understand your business and treat it as if it were their own. The care and consideration provided by others is truly critical to your business success.
